Hulkbusting makes me feel good!
From the aisles of KB Toys at The Mall at Greece Ridge Center comes Iron Man in Hulkbuster armor.
I figured that with so much Avengers hype going on, it was about time to break out my Marvel figures, starting with the mid-90s Toy Biz Iron Man collection.
From my research, this appears to be the first time a Hulkbuster version of the figure was released.
If you don’t know, this is the armor Tony Stark created to “bust” Hulk. In the comics, there were also “Hulkbuster” teams, but I never really read those books.
I didn’t watch the Iron Man cartoon either. It’s actually kind of strange that I even have these figures, because I’ve never really played with them.
This figure was released in 1995, when I was in my teens and not really playing with toys. But I had a job and money to burn, and when I saw Toy Biz was finally making figures out of all these heroes I had to have them.
That was frustrating, by the way. For years I wanted somebody to make all these Marvel toys and they don’t start until I’m in high school??
Do you know how uncool it is for a high school kid to be playing with action figures? Cause I don’t, cause I was totally cool.
So this figure still has all his Hulkbusting accessories: Exo-skeletal support helmet, hydraulic power enhancers, impact gauntlets and stanchion boots.
This figure is the only version of Iron Man I bought from that series. I’m not big on owning all the different guys with all the different suits.
One Iron Man will do, and this was the armor I was digging the most.
So, this is the start of my Marvel Toy Biz series, which will feature mainly Iron Man and X-Men characters.
Coming on Wednesday, one of the evilest villains in the Iron Man universe. Can you guess which one?
